VREF for A4988 Driver Microstepping at 1/16

I have an Allegro A4988 driver connected to a Nema 17 that I would like to microstep and run at 1/16 the speed (connected by 3 jumpers so all 3 modes are high).

I don't understand what I should set my VREF to or how to read a data sheet

My Nema 17 motor has a current of 1.5A, resistance of 2.4 ohms, and 1.8 degrees.

Any help on how I can figure out what to change my current limit to would be great appreciated, thank you!

Ignore the microstepping as it does not really come into play for the current limits.

There are lots of guides out there mostly similar.
This one is easy enough to follow

Note that voltages can come into play but you neglected to say what you are using.
