I was just wondering if it makes a difference if the steps for the driver are set before the calibration of Vref, or it doesn’t make a difference .

Thank you

Can you provide some more detail?

Great question but about what? Vref is a term that means Voltage reference, most circuits have one. In the Arduino world it is the Reference voltage for the A/D. Depending on which Arduino you chose you have many choices of the source of Vref. You also need to define what you're asking when you state calibration of Vref, it is normally the reference point but can sometimes be adjusted. To what accuracy do you want to have everything be.

What driver? You need to provide full information about any hardware you reference or
how can be guess what you are refering to?
