Hello, I have a glass of water. I want to place a sensor outside of this glass. So that I can see if there is any water or not on a specific level. I need 1 / 0 output, and my solution must be cheap. I could not buy sensor more than 3 dolar. Even if i will, it must be reusable because i will throw my glass.
My first guess would be an two optical detectors, one for each threshold.
Either reflective; the light may be refected from the glass / air interface but not from glass / water interface. Or, optical path could be diverted by refraction due to the water.
It will need some experimentation to establish viability.
Opto sesnsor pairs are about £0.08 on Aliexpress.
Check out "non contact water sensor" on your favorite china supplier, I saw some close to your price range.
Have a look at how automatic windscreen wipers work
( total internal reflection etc )
