I have a water pump I would like to control with pwm.
It runs fine on 5 volts, draws less than an amp.
for my power transistor i have a CM1000HA-24H with gate control taken care of.
now I know electrical noise might be a problem so I decided it wouldn't hurt to throw in some decoupling caps. I have a few capacitors laying around that I think are up to the task. they're only rated 2.5 volts, so i figure I can run 4 of them in parallel, then have another bank in series.
I'm just not sure if these components are up to the job. The igbt is only 1200 volts at 1000 amps, and I just don't know if 5,400 Farads will be enough
If you haven't caught on by now I've been gone for a long time and I'm making an entrance with some playful sarcasm, and wanted to give a little inspiration for the beginners.
I'm just a hobbyist who mostly works as a mechanic, 23 years old.
If you ever feel like your goals are too expensive, DON'T GIVE UP! with some patience and cunning you can find parts in the strangest places. Not once as a 16 year old did I ever think I would own a 1.2 megawatt capable transistor module or a bunch of 2600 and 3000 Farad, (yes farad, not micro) capacitors, and 3 oscilloscopes. ebay and surplus stores are your friends! Find projects, break things, learn, and never stop! even being technically unemployed, by saving a couple dollars here and there and using it wisely, I've been able to assemble a decent lab.
It's good to be back in the forums, and if you ever have any questions on making a grandiose project come true, hit me up with a P.M. I've blown up a lot of parts in my short electronics journey, I've done things in new and innovative wrong ways. So if you run into a problem, maybe some of my experience can help
and to celebrate my return, a picture of my new tattoo
every day it reminds me that there's a whole world of electronics out there, with no limitations, and inspires me to learn more and improve my skills, (and maybe one day i'll meet someone with a pnp and we'll be a complementary pair.)
happy arduino-ing my friends, hack away every day.
