Weird problem with Uno R3

Hi everybody,

When I plug my Uno to my PC, it recognizes the UNO with no problem.

Then I unplug it and plug again and PC does not recognize it anymore. No serial port.. Nothing..

If I wait for 1-2 hours and connect again, it works.. Then I unplugged and plug.. again.. does not work...

During all these, Uno runs the program when it has power (with USB or with power socket) there is no problem with this..

Did you see something like this before? Any idea?

Maybe a dodgey USB cable?

I get this problem all the time on Windows PC

I "fix" it by

  • un-plugging the USB,
  • shutting down the IDE.
  • starting the IDE
  • plugging in again.
  • IDE sees it and I can program again.

sometimes I get away with just

  • leave USB plugged in,
  • shutting down the IDE.
  • starting the IDE
  • IDE sees it and I can program again.

Annoying ...
