Does anybody know, if I can use a esp8266 as vpn server, like wireguard? Or is it not fast enough?
I would expect that to fail because of too less RAM. I also have some doubts that someone does port a VPN server to an MCU like the ESP8266. Use a fully-fledged OS (like Linux, FreeBSD, etc.) for such jobs as you usually want to do some routing and packet filtering stuff on the VPN server too.
