Hello!
I'm trying to setup a ws2812b led strip with a Wemos D1.
I tried a few examples using the USB power and they all ran ok. I then switched to external 5v through the 5v pin. The first LED turned on and that was all, the program didn't run.
I switched back to usb, but no example runs anymore. It hangs on reset after successful upload through Arduino ide and the LEDs don't turn on. Thinking that I burned the board, i tried uploading fluidnc (cnc control for esp32) and it seems to work ok, even the reset after the upload seems to work.
Any suggestions to what I might try to make the LEDs work with the USB power again?
Please read the forum guide in the sticky post near the top of the forum section. That will tell you what you need to post in order for the forum to be able to help you, and how to post it.
Please make sure to include your schematic, code, links to the specs of components used and some bright, clear pictures of the circuit, so that every wire can be traced.
Thanks, I'll try to be more specific next time.
Meanwhile, i realized it was an adjustable power source, accidentally set to 11 V. The wemos board is ok. So is the LED strip, after cutting the first 6 diodes, which were probably burnt when 11V passed through them.
Power to the Wemos D1 Mini is supplied via the on-board USB Micro B connector or directly via the “VIN” pin. The power source is selected automatically.
The device can operate on an external supply of 6 to 20 volts. If using more than 12V, the voltage regulator may overheat and damage the device. The recommended range is 7 to 12 volts
