Wemos "tripler" base - design flaw

I ordered three of these recently, and discovered a design flaw in them. Anyone using or thinking of using them might find this article interesting:

I'd still recommend them, but it might save you a lot of head-scratching and swearing!

Hard to believe that the ones being sold now (two years later) still have this flaw.

I spent days of frustration before stumbling across this post - a simple test and bingo - problem not so
much solved as identfied.

I least I knew what to avoid!

At this rate with a defect, they should be really cheap!
