Humans seem to have this uncontrollable urge to map everything. Exploration and mapping must come from deep within??
Where I am from, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests started mapping lakes in 1940 and I believe they stopped (or gave up) in 1995. The Ministry managed to map around 11 000 of the approximately 250 000 lakes in the Province. What was the Bathymetry data used for and why stop if it was important to do for 50+ years?
One thing I do know, they help me find good fishing spots
I don't know, but Antarctica looks pretty sketchy to me. That's where the ice wall is, isn't it? And the armed penguins?
