I have a few 2axis joystick but no board yet. Was also wondering what else I should use. Need a trigger type control that's pressure sensitive. Any recommendations would be much appreciated. I'm new to this king of stuff but seeing all the hardware available its very interesting.
Welcome to the forum.
You can start with a Arduino Leonardo with the ATmega32U4 microcontroller.
The Arduino Micro is a smaller version of the Leonardo, and there is even a "Pro Micro" but that is a "compatible" and not a official Arduino board.
Do you have any programming experience ?
Arduino has a Keyboard library and a Mouse library. Others have made libraries for other things, such as joystick. In the Arduino IDE is a "Library Manager" and there are many libraries that do something with buttons and joysticks.
I have tried the Keyboard and Mouse libraries, but not the other libraries.
An analog joystick can easily be read by an Arduino board.
A Force Sensitive Resistor (FSR) is pressure sensitive. It is not accurate enough to measure a weight, but perhaps it can be used with a button.
Sparkfun FSR: https://www.sparkfun.com/categories/tags/fsr
There are more options similar to a FSR. From a pressure sensitive fabric to a long strip with position detection. The Sparkfun Flex / Force category is just a small part of that.
Sometimes I find fresh ideas at Hackaday, such as this velocity sensitive keyboard.
Could you edit your first post and change the Category to "Project Guidance" ? Perhaps a helpful moderator will do that for you.
@jaked0097, your topic has been moved to a more suitable location on the forum. Installation and Troubleshooting is not for problems with (nor for advise on) your project
See About the Installation & Troubleshooting category.
I think that @Koepel has covered what you can start with, so I will leave it at that.
Thanks for the reply I am looking into that now.
I do not have any prior experience with programming but I'm good on pc related issues and I'm looking forward to learning more.
Thanks for moving my post to the proper location. I am new to this forum and I appreciate the help.
