What can I do with 18 quality helicopter motors?

Please don't say build 9 helicopters.

I'm looking for project ideas. I have two accelerometers, one gyroscope, a middling collection of transistors, LEDs, H-bridges, Light Sensors, etc. Plenty of hot glue. I don't mind putting down a bit extra money to implement a good idea.

Please post your ideas. I am in the New York City area and like to collaborate.

Science, aviation, automative driving, Martian Rovers, or robotic manipulation preferred.

Cheers! This is so much fun!

Four and a half autonomous quadrotors?

That's ridiculous. What good is half an autonomous quadrotor? Surely you can be more creative than that.

I know nothing about operating a quadrotor. This video does make it look versatile, though.

My next thought was six autonomous tri-rotors.

I can't seem to get my thoughts away from things that fly. How about a decently functional UFO? I'd imagine that with a couple of cubic yards of helium for bouyancy, and concealed fans for propulsion and attitude control, and a collection of 'close encounters' style flashing lights and bleepers, you could make something that looked the part.

Share! I'm willing to take a couple...

Well here is a nice design to try and copy:

Finally we can actually build a more realistic version of these star-wars laser sword fighting training spheres
