What chip should be used for 2-phase bipolar stepper motor?

Without seeing the link to the datasheet for your stepper motor how can we say?

As your motor has a 1 amp coil current you could use either a Pololu A4988 or DRV8825 or a Sparkfun BigEasydriver (which also uses the A4988 chip).

Make sure to adjust the current limit to 1 amp to protect your motor.


Yup, 1A is within the range of most chopper driver chips for steppers. Since you haven't said
what you want to do, can't advise what supply voltage to go for.
