What chip should be used for 2-phase bipolar stepper motor

As your motor has a 1 amp coil current you could use either a Pololu A4988 or DRV8825 or a Sparkfun BigEasydriver (which also uses the A4988 chip).

Make sure to adjust the current limit to 1 amp to protect your motor.
