A constant pwm signal with the on-time variable from approx 1 to 2 milliseconds repeated approx every 20 milliseconds. This signal is just an electrical square wave switching between ground and chip's Vcc voltage.

Pulses of a duration of 1.5ms is in the middle. Make that pulse shorter and the servo moves to a new position in one direction, make that pulse longer and the servo moves to a position in the other direction.
