hi i am a final year electronics and communication student got placed in a reputed software company. But my real field of interest is embedded systems and right now im in the business of making projects and spending time. In the previous years and all, some core companies like cypress, honeywell or bosch used to conduct offcampus..but right now i couldnt find any..what is the reason?are these big core companies stopped recruiting freshers??could anyone tell me the reason?is there any way for getting placed in these?..any suggestion is welcomed..
Lol! Chill Mate... the poor fellow is looking for some guidance... Personally, its difficult to employ freshers in core electronics as experience is what is more valuable than creativity/energy and unlike a 'software company job'(i mean in india) its not something for people that look for comfort + big salaries + no work ;). It is very demanding and you have to sweat it out up the ladder - As you gain experience it becomes easier.
If you are interested in embedded projects then I would advise you go with small companies. With large ones you are less likely to see actual hands on stuff nor get to see all the process. For example if the company is big all the PCB layout will be done by specialist, with a small company it is likely to be the engineer that does it. The same goes for a lot of stuff like emissions, approvals, factory testing rigs and component appraisal.
What I did when I left school (admittedly many years ago) was to get a catalogue from an electronics show and write to all the companies within travelling range of where I lived. I got two interviews and job offers and went with the small one.

Well you must have been studying so hard the last 2-3 years you missed the fact that we may just now be coming out of the worst global recession in many decades. Most companies either were laying off or freezing new employment. Things will pick up, they always do.
