What has happened to the emoiji pallet

Hi;
What is this?

Where is the Australian flag that use to be there?

Why change???
I can only post ONE emoji at a time and the panel closes, why?

PPS. Found it but I had to scroll down I don't know how many pages..grrrrrrr..

That is the emoji picker of the post composer.

It is still there. Search for australia.

The metadata for the :australia: emoji doesn't contain the keyword flag, so this is why you don't see that emoji in the search results for the flag keyword. The source of the additional search keywords come from Unicode:

However, there is no unicode character for the Australian flag, so no annotation data is available to provide additional search keywords for this emoji . The :australia: emoji comes from Twemoji, and I don't believe that Twemoji provides any annotation data, so the emoji will only appear in the search results for the emoji markup itself.

Are you sure used to appear in the results for a flag keyword search?

You still haven't explained what is broken. The emoji is still there.

It hasn't been changed for two years. The forum has been updated many times since then. So I don't see any reason to believe that the search behavior changed recently.

I made a significant effort to respond to your post. If you won't make the effort to help me understand what the problem is then there is nothing more I can do.

That's the point , nothing was broken, but it has been changed, the layout is different.

Why can I not select 4 emojis one after the other to put in my post and the panel stays open?
Now the emoji panel CLOSES after each emoji is selected.
So to put more than one emoji in a post, you have to select the emoji icon for each emoji.
Note the emoji icon has changed too.

Unless the layout change caused a regression, I don't see that this is a problem.

The chat emoji picker is renamed emoji-picker, and the old emoji-picker is remov…ed. This commit doesn't attempt to fully rework a new emoji-picker but instead tries to migrate everything to one picker (the chat one) and add small changes. Other notable changes: - all the favorite emojis code has been mixed into one service which is able to store one state per context, favorites emojis will be stored for all topics, and for each chat channel. Meaning that if you always use a specific emoji in a channel, it will only show as favorite emoji in this channel. - a lot of static code has been removed which should improve initial load perf of discourse. Initially this code was around to improve the performance of the emoji picker rendering. - the emojis are now stored, once the full list has been loaded, if you close and reopen the picker it won't have to load them again. List of components: - `<EmojiPicker />` will render a button which will open a dropdown - `<EmojiPickerContent />` represents the content of the dropdown alone, it's useful when you want to render a picker from an action which is not the default picker button - `<EmojiPickerDetached />` just a simple wrapper over `<EmojiPickerContent />` to make it easier to use it with `this.menu.show(...)`

I verified that doesn't show up in the search results for flag in version c1a4699 of Discourse either, so I'm now confident there hasn't been a regression in that respect.

I for one prefer this new function instead of the panel to hide something in the input or preview window.

Sorry, I don't want to know what code was changed, I want to know WHY?

The one pick then close, I would regard as a bug, what was wrong with the way it worked before.
Why for a start go to the trouble of changing the icon, one emoji face, now three much smaller emoji, in fact I thought it was a bit of dirt on my screen.

Did the individual(s) who changed the code, actually fully test it.
Did they check how it looks on a phone , or like me a 15inch LCD, not a 30inch like they probably have?

I would hate to try and use it on a smarty phone.

It's a button and the icon is a check tick box. If you click it, it turns green indicating that that was the selected solution for a topic.

From memory, long ago it used to have the word "Solution" next to it.

Thankyou, now please fix the other hassle.
The emoji "window" closes after just one emoji select.

Leave it open for a second or more selection, let me have control, I know how to close it.
