Hi in my forum settings, there is an option for a signature. What is that? I know it is that thing at the bottom of your posts, but what is that for? What should I put in it?

If you need to ask what to put in it, that's a good sign you should just leave it blank.

I assumed you would have access to a dictionary - either the paper variety, or online.
My dictionary describes pithy as "terse and vigorously expressive"

It can contain whatever you want so long as it doesn't break forum rules.
Some use book quotes to refer to a favourite book passage.
I use a heads up to users who care to read it.
A few use it to remind peeps not to PM them with help requests.
Usually its a more personal bit of text.
Lots of noobs and such leave it blank as suggested.
Some get a little snarky (new word)
