What is extra geometry in library part for SparkFun Battery Holder - 18650 (PTH)

Hi,

I'd like to use the SparkFun Battery Holder - 18650 (PTH), but I'm confused about the library part (see attachment).

Firstly, is this the correct library part? It's listed in Eagle as: "BATTERY_18650-HOLDER", but there's several other library parts with a similar name.

Secondly, what is the blue geometry I've circled in red? Is that just telling me the closest I'm allowed to put another battery?

Thanks,

I think that's probably the outline of the metal on top of the board?

I've used similar battery holders. I like them - very economical on board space (though there are ones with a plastic housing available too, which are probably somewhat more durable). Just be aware that they are exposed, and if you've got two batteries next to eachother, you've gotta be careful not to bend the holders such that they short the batteries together (assuming they're not in parallel). I'd be extra careful about that with lithium cells.

Thanks DrAzzy!

So that blue polygon I've circled is a real feature? I thought it was a mistake in the library. Why would there be a pad so far from the clip padstacks? (It seems like people are giving instructions on how to remove it in the product comments at Sparkfun).

Also, I didn't realize these battery clips were for lithium cells only. I just assumed you could use it with any kind of battery (alkaline, NiMH, etc.). Is that not the case?

Finally, I have the batteries in series as shown attached. 4 AA batteries will drive two servos. A 9 volt battery will drive the Arduino. This is the first time I'm building a robot, but I think I've layed the power schematic out correctly.

Thanks again!
