What is the cable connecting Mega 2560 Rev3 to a computer?

Hi, a cable connecting a Mega 2560 Rev3 to a computer is too short. I need to get a longer one.

For this board, what cable would lead to the fastest connection? From some online store pages, it looks like all USB 3.0A to B cable have a larger square connector than the board could accept. Is USB 2.0A to B USB Printer Cable the one to get? Is there a limitation on the lenth?

You have the type A (flat connector) to type B (square connector)

Yes, the USB 2.0 A to B cable most commonly used for printers is the correct one. Maximum length is 10 feet (~3m). If you require more length, a USB 2.0 active extension cable or a USB hub on its own long USB cable will work.

Nice illustration! Thank you

OK. 3m cable then. Thank you

I find extra cable cumbersome. I prefer 30cm for proximity (within arm's reach). Your preference may differ.

The standard cables that I use are indeed old printer cables and are 2 meters long.

How long is longer? 20 m or 100 m or 1 km or ... ?

You don't mention the reason why you need a longer one. I understand that it will be because the board will not be close to a computer but for what will it be used? For uploads? Or for communication between your loaded Arduino sketch and a PC.
