What is the missing U3 on this display?

Hi,

I just got a ILI9430C 2.2 inch SPI display (the red one). It was my own fault for not reading the eBay listing closely =( as the heading said ILI9341C, but further down it specifies the 9340, no matter.

The pic in the listing also was not of what I received but I managed to find one (below) of what I actually received, which helps me to illustrate my question(s).

If anyone else has the same board could you tell me...

What is the missing IC U3, it looks like it is part of the SD card stuff ?

What exactly are the voltage regulators doing, can I run this thing with 5V, or is it just stopping it from showing its smoke?

What is J1 (to the right of the SCK pin) for ?

Many thanks in advance.

U3 probably buffers the SCK, MOSI, CS signals down to 3.3V. SD/uSD cards run at 3.3V, not 5V.
High speed cards work better with buffered signals vs resistor-dividing to bring the level down.
What's the other side of the card look like?

The front is basically how you would expect from these sort of screens.

The picture below is from the original eBay listing, and as I mentioned is not the actual thing I have (I have 5 SD pin holes, where the picture shows 4)
Otherwise there doesn't appear to be much difference to what I have in front of me.

I haven't even hooked the thing up yet, but it just bugs me that I might be missing something =)
