What is the name of this component?

Hi,

I wasn´t sure in which sub forum to put this question, so i appologize in case it is in the wrong one.

My question is, what is the component called that I marked red in the following image. These square tubes with holes in them?

Hi, they look like boxes that probably contain brackets for the rods poking out of them.
This looks like someone making a copy of SPIRIT or OPPORTUNITY Mars rovers.
(Both a prime example of robotics, electronics and programming engineering accomplishing something amazing.)
Those parts are probably custom made, fabricated from many pieces, would would not be able to buy it as an assembly.
This is the family who made it.

Without more information I don't know what it might be called.

It looks like it houses a servo that allows the motor hanging below to be pointed to different angles - but that may be way off beam.

i agree

Thank you for the answers. It seems I was too unspecific. I didn´t mean the whole module but simply the metal casing, the square metal tube with the holes in it.

I know that tubes like this are called "square tubes" or "square tubing" but is there a specific name for them if they have all these holes in them?

Hi, I don't know, its just made up of aluminium sheet, looks like 3mm that they have drilled to decrease weight.

(Checkout the other stuff this family have made, and for who, amazing.)

Have a look here.

Ah, thank you very much.
