What module of GSM can be used in the USA?q

Hello, i'm right now trying to find an GSM module that can be used in USA. Currently I have an SIM800L that does not work with any of the phone companies in my area which are Tmobile and ATT&T. The GSM module simply won't connect to a network.

Does anyone know if there are any GSM modules that will work on ATT&T ot Tmobile? I'm not sure if it is because of the phone companies switching to 5G that theses modules won't work no longer.

2G (GSM and CDMA) which was state of the art in 1991, has been superseded by newer technologies. Afterwards you got GPRS (2.5G) and EDGE (2.75G) but those are getting extinct because the spectrum can be reused by more efficient 3G (UMTS / CDMA2000), and 4G(LTE) (which can use the same bandwidth to carry more data or serve more customers) and 5G networks

So the SIM800L stuff is just going to be very soon totally obsolete around the world, that's why you can find them so cheap...

Hello j-M-L, Is there a GSM that will take LTE 4G or 5G out there? So far I can not find one.

Joseph

They'll probably be obsolete shortly after becoming available.

It is true But i'll still need ine for the meantime. Unless there is another way of sending sms text to a cellphone?

Joseph

GSM is 2G

The (expensive! ) Arduino MKR GSM 1400 — Arduino Online Shop will do 3G

There are internet gateways to send an SMS

My iphone is gsm 4g lte also can handle gsm 5g.

Sure modern smartphones encompass all technologies but won’t connect to a gsm network if there is no more any gsm network
