What sensors to make one object recognise another object and feedback

I want to make a set of wristbands that change colour when they come into contact with a particular object.

For example, I have a bottle of wine with a sensor on it.

Every time the person wearing the wristband picks up the bottle of wine to pour themselves a drink, a red LED on their wristband comes on.

After 1 hour, the red light turns off and the green light on the wristband turns on.

I'm totally new to Arduino so I apologise if I'm using all the wrong terminology or this is incredibly simple (or maybe impossible?) I really have no idea.

It is more on the impossible end.
I would suggest that you look at RFID. Make the reader on a wrist band and put RFID tags on the objects.

However it is not straightforward. The main issue will be with range.

How about a magnet and hall effect sensor.
