After a lot of research on how to supply 5v for a custom PCB i made (an led chaser to light up around 10 led SMD 0603), I found 2 options, but I can't decide which one is better, and I'd appreciate it if one can guide me on which one to pick:

I use both, but if there's room in the project case, I prefer the former. Fewer pieces to wire.
Another thing to consider is that with a boost converter, you will be
drawing more current from the battery than you are supplying to
the load.
They sound pretty much the same.

If the battery discharge faster and need to be recharged faster it's fine, leds will only be turned on for 10 minutes to play around then turned off, they won't be on all day.
