Which boards to use for multy drop sensor network?

I have never heard of "race conditions", Google me thinks, however I know enough to be concerned about stray reactence, l and c, and propagation times.

To be honest I don't need fast and will be actively seeking solutions that are simple to implement, hardware and software, by virtue of the fact that they are slow, relatively speaking I mean.

I am essentially talking squirt and prey with everything being a global broadcast, if I need ACC functionality of some specific chunk of important data then I will make that a logical function of the control system as opposed to a function of the protocol.

This is all new to me and I appreciate the insight, thanks. I am rather pleased that you didn't say I was just talking rubbish, it was and is a distinct possibility given my lack of basic knowledge at this point.

I had envisaged a network power source that pulled both differential lines high which means that the devices will only ever pull low, avoiding the scenario that multiple devices are pulling a line high with a single device attempting to pull it, and therefore all of them, low.
That way the maximum current a device will have to sink will not increase with node count.

I would be interested in your thoughts RE implementing CAN-BUS as is or designing a simplified version from scratch.

Thanks
Al
