Which motor choose?

Hello guys, good morning.

I need you help to understand and to choose the better type of motor for my project.
The project is about to build a robot arm.
I studied the types of motors that are on the market.
For this I used the book: "McCOMB, Gordon. Robot builder's bonanza. 4. ed. New York: McGraw - Hill, 2011. 704 p. ISBN 978-0-07-175036-3".
But I'm havnig difficulties to choose thr type of engine.
I'm searching for a motor that has a high precision, and also has a reference mainly to work with Arduino or Raspberry PI.
For that, what would be more appropriate? DC? AC? Steeper motor? Brushlees Steeper motor? And please, I reinforce that I don’t have the possibility to use the basic servo motors, because this is my final year project and I need to find something advanced and something that is already compatible with Arduino or Raspberry PI. Thanks in advance.

To quote a book doesn't have much meaning.

What motors are they using (exact specifications) ?
From those details yo can back trace to what would be suitable for you and your project but to do that you also need to include more accurate details of your project itself.

An adjective is not a specification. Units and numbers are needed.

Positional precision?
Speed precision?
Repeatability / backlash?
Torque?
Power?
Speed?
Efficiency?

Better still what are you trying to control?

Its the motor controller that needs to be "Arduino compatible" or "Raspberry Pi compatible", not the motor.
