Which sensor should i use for Remote Control?

Hello. I’m trying to control a remote control robot. I looked up some sensors. However i saw the Ir receiver didn’t have much range or distance. Then, the nrf24l01 was too complicated for me to understand. Are there some other remote control sensors? Thank you
