Which transistor i need ?

Hey all !

I built a tv remote that control fan speed.

i connect the fan to 12V power supply and i want to ask you guys which transistor i need for that ? (i had one that i found in my house but it become very hot in few seconds.. )

so.. which transistor I need for 12V ?

What kind of fan, link? How much current does it draw?

My first suggestion would be IRL540 MOS Fet.

Later project , you could take a fan remote and have it control your TV ;)

How have you wired it up? Please show us your schematic.

Normal CPU fan. 0.2A 12V.

And I'm kind of new with all that and I don't really know to draw schematic..

??..

Use an IRL540 MOS fet

Hey. Thanks ! but i want to know if this transistor will be good as well for my project ?

Reading a schematic http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2011/01/reading-circuit-diagrams.html

Colin's Lab video on reading a schematic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cps7Q_IrX0

Use pen a paper and post a picture no more than 1000 pixels wide.

Hey..

can someone tell me if this transistor

will be good for my project ?

If your fan is .2A and this MOS Fet is .2A I would not use it.

how about that one ?

That is no good either. See this parameter :- Drain-Source On-State Resistance RDS(on) VGS =10V 0.54 Ohm

That VGS need to be 5V in order to turn it fully on with an Arduino signal.

Can you please give me a cheap transistor module ?

I'm keep trying to get a good module and I'm always get wrong one

You have been recommended one in reply 1 and 5 but are refusing to to take advice. Do it your way and learn by failing/doing.

My friend. i'm not refusing , this transistor is just too expensive for me (I need to order 10+- and it cost like 10$ , sry to tell you but 10$ is kinda of alot for me )

so i just want to ask for a another , cheaper but also good transistor

Thanks for understanding

I would help if you say these things at the time. If you are paying $10 each for these you are paying too much.

You need to say where about in the world you are and if the issue is with postage or the place you are getting it from.

Its not 10$ each .. its like 1.2$ each but i need to buy 10$ of them.

do you have any cheaper module to give me ?

What is your budget, where do you live?

Guessing games. Maybe he wants to control 10 fans. That can ofcourse be done with ONE mosfet. Leo..

So what do you call cheap, sounds like a good price to me.

Yes it is amazing how many people ask for help but will not cooperate. If you went to the doctor and said you had a pain, the doctor would say where is the pain. Then you say "I am not going to tell you", what sort of help do you think you would get?
