I'd like to get a few USB serial adapters for testing. It should be different ones so I can explore their behaviour differences if there are any. I know that the FT232RL chip is supported by Windows 10 without installing any drivers. But which other chips can be used without driver installation? I've read about CP2102, CH340, PL2303TA/HX. Does any of them work out of the box? All information I can find online when searching for it is how to install their drivers, but not whether it's actually necessary.
FTDI FT232 works out of the box.
Prolific PL2303 (not 100% sure) I mean too. But it is a chip with much problems. It works by one people but not by another. You must have chance. Same windows version ande same driver isn't a garantie.
Silicon labs CP2102 and CH340 fast sure only with driver installation (once). But they works without problems.
