which waterproof ultrasonic sensor

During testing I noticed that the sensor has a rather wide sensing angle, which is confirmed by the tech specs of the manufacturer.
To avoid that the sensor picks up the protruding parts of the wall of the thank or the floating ball of the suction line, I’m thinking of putting a pvc pipe over the sensor to reduce that sensing angle. But how long should that pipe be? Won’t the sensor detect the pipe and return false results?

You need to use sound absorbing material, not material that reflects sound. Try sections of foam pipe insulation.

That sounds plausible.
Have to look into it.
