While nrf24l01 is plugged into nano(chinese!) computer doesn't recognize board

I have a clone Mega that won't even power a low-power nRF24 from its 3.3v pin.

I have powered the nRf24 with an LD1117 3.3v regulator drawing power from the Arduino's 5v pin. The 5v pin can provide a lot more current than the 3.3v pin.
