How's that for something sloshing around in your mouth?
Apple sauce if is very nice with a piece of roast pork.

i forgot about the benefits of pork.
Battle of the Carbs! In this corner we have Applesauce, sweet, mushy and made of fruit. In the other corner we have bread sticks, bready, can be crunchy, and made of grain.
Of course I like bread sticks dipped in applesauce.
..as side dish with pork.
ChrisTenone:
Applesauce, sweet,
My apple sauce is not sweet. It is made with cooking apples without any added sugar.

@robin, what, are you amish?

No. Atheist.
To be honest I am amazed at the suggestion that one would put sugar in, or use sweet apples for apple sauce.
On the other hand if I was making stewed apple and custard dessert I would certainly but sugar in it.
(Jeez - this makes it sound like I cook stuff more than once a year) ![]()

no added sugar? but then, i tend to like a little coffee with my morning cup of sugar
I used to be the same but I found it surprisingly easy to stop, stirring in the sugar was more of a habit than an addiction.
A lot of what you taste just seems to be in your mind. I saw a Chinese person drinking hot water once, no coffee, no tea, just boiled tap water. It seemed completely weird but I gave it a try and it filled the desire for a hot drink very well.
In the grand scheme of thing though, apples are considered to be sweet. Limes, current American presidents, and bread sticks are less so.

Yeah ... but only by people who have not tasted raw cooking apples such as the Bramley variety ![]()

I had assumed stewed not seen it raw before now.
I can eat a bramley but they are large and a whole one is a bit too much.
Someone suggested that the addition of sugar or syrup is to delay oxidation/discoloration.
I used to like Apple Sauce, but then they changed the licencing agreement.
