Wave... whose intellectual property did they try to steal this time? Or may this, for the very first time, be a true Google invention?
Or may this, for the very first time, be a true Google invention?
Umm, dunno, could be. I haven't honestly found any use for it so far. It is slow (even on a relatively fast internet connection) and it doesn't seem to do a hell of a lot...
Mowcius
Looks like a wave could be handy if some members work on one project. Or is it something meant for a larger scale? A replacement/addition for this forum maybe? I like the concept so far. Thing is that it's a bit too new for my liking. I'll wait until other people bite the bullet. Thanks mowcius!
Sorry, no, i won't wave with you. Sounds funny though.
Jeroen

please dont never ever try to think of such a thing again. It's bad enough we already use google code here, but 'replacing' anything here with google stuff... especially the forum would be nothing but total retardness (sorry for the harsh words).
Ever tried to imagine what a 'discussion' could look like in Wave (or any other google media)?
User A: Does anyone here have a library for the PCF8574AN?
GoogleAd: Find Libraries in your area -> Google Earth
User B: No, but i have other Multiplexer libraries. How about one based on Microchip's BlaBlubnarf.
GoogleAd: Cheap Multiplexers @Ebay
GoogleAd: Microchips. Buy cheap Microchips and get one Viagra for free!
User A: Ah, thanks m8, i will try that one out.
GoogleAd: Find Dates -> GooglePimp

Now that is funny......... ;D Best laugh today.
Sorry for feeding your google-monster Nachtwind. I was not suggesting to replace this board. I do realize that there's nothing that is really free. So up to a point i don't mind advertising. (don't take a run with that sentence as well please) So, for example, if i use google-maps to look something up i am 'paying' by accepting advertisement. If those ads get i my way too much i'll probably buy an atlas. Either way i'm paying. One is with annoyance and the other with euro's. I'm Dutch, so guess what i'm doing at the moment.
On topic; mowcius, could you explain 'wave' a bit more?
Jeroen

HEY! That's not nice... I use gpimp

Google Wave is an online tool for real-time communication and collaboration. A wave can be both a conversation
and a document where people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.
A wave is equal parts conversation and document. People can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.
A wave is shared. Any participant can reply anywhere in the message, edit the content and add participants at any point in the process. Then playback lets anyone rewind the wave to see who said what and when.
A wave is live. With live transmission as you type, participants on a wave can have faster conversations, see edits and interact with extensions in real-time.
Honestly a bit annoying. You write something and the people on the other end change it. As I said, I haven't really found a good use for it yet.
Mowcius
Thanks for replying mowcius,
I've read the pages at google so the most useful answer to my question was

They didn't give that info with those words.

No longer can bad types who repeatedly mis-type words hide their shameful secret.

Sure didn't

Very true, but you can type insults and then quickly delete them, pretending you didn't do anything!

That has already been done by someone here. cough tytower cough
I do! I also have 50 invites to give out! PM me your email and I will give you one!

Well it doesn't seem to be as live as gtalk... i typed it something and then pinged a friend in gtalk only to find that he was still waiting for it to appear... looks like it might need lightning speed internet connection. i think gtalk is better - Simple
You can check out this. I dunno, I'm not impressed yet. (OTOH, I seem to be something of a Luddite when it comes to "modern" communications paradigms. I'm getting too old.)
Yeah you do need a fast net connection. It is almost instant most of the time with me but my internet is not that fast.
Mowcius
Just got my invite! Looks cool so far...
Could be ok to discuss arduino projects with...
Mowcius
not my cup of tea but interesting, I could see this working pretty well with more focused groups
