Why can't one create a .cpp in the web editor?

I'm fiddling a little around in the web editor (https://app.arduino.cc/) and don't seem to be able to directly create a .cpp file. I use the workaround using importing an empty .cpp but why is it not possible to directly create a .cpp file?

it's too advanced...

(On safari then way they handle the + button or the 3 dots next to a file name is really bad)

I completely agree! That approach would likely work in Linux, but the file’s portability would be poor or not acceptable if used on other operating systems.
