There are a large number of users who have made a significant contribution to the forum and then their posting history has come to an abrupt end. Often we fear the worst. What we can and must do is offer these a form of immortality in that their posting history remains for posterity.
Some we know about, for example David Prentice, Chris Tenone, Crossroads and others. Some we don't know about say johnwasser (or does any one know?). Some have miraculously returned having had condolences expressed in their name: Rob Tilaart CountdownTimer, Andrew Mascolo example questions. Of course, if a user, for whatever reason, wants to go quietly, those wishes should also be respected.
