Why do people ...

... post project and programming questions in the Website and Forum section?

The Moderators have had to move at least two wrongly posted Topics today.

Is it possible to somehow land on the Website and Forum section without first visiting the Index page?

Given the range of sections on the Index page nobody with even 30% of a brain could think that a project or programing question should be posted in the Website and Forum section - or could they?

With all appropriate sympathy for and thanks to the Moderators who have to deal with this nonsense.

Just instaban them. No great loss...

It's almost as if they just do an "eeny meeny miney mo" for which section to use.

My perspective is that they only really harm themselves by using the wrong section. Sure, it wastes the time of the moderators moving the posts, but that's what we signed up for.

My main concern is about people doing things that have a harmful effect on other forum users, like cross-posting. If I see people doing that sort of thing repeatedly, then they definitely get the ban.

I've just reported another one.

And I don't agree that it is what you signed up for. This is just time wasting thoughtlessness.

My suggestion is that you put a message at the top of the Website and Forum section saying
Topics created here that are not about the working of the Website and Forum will be deleted without notice.

Post in "Tutorials" are (or used to be) just as common.

I can forgive those for whom English is not their first language, but not those for whom it clearly is.

It's not like there aren't any warnings...

That is also very infuriating. But I can see how people might think that they need to request a tutorial.

I'M SERIOUS - DON'T PUT YOUR QUESTIONS HERE

PLEASE DON'T POST YOUR QUESTIONS IN THIS TUTORIAL SECTION

I can't.

TheMemberFormerlyKnownAsAWOL:
I can't.

Then perhaps those questions should also be deleted without notice

Why do people have their forum names that long you can't read it cos it "over writes" the rest of the forum menu.

Tom...

I agree it's a PITA, but it does not make unnecessary work for the Moderators.

Overall I think it seems (to me at least) to be better than it was.

And given most of the mods are in different time zones it does lighten and spread the load considerably.

We do still miss that guy with the crazy long name though (as was and as is known as summat or other)

Elitism - it isn't for everyone.

I apologise unreservedly if my username causes moderators any extra work; the name was chosen out of whimsy (I'm very big on whimsy) and not out of malice.

Karma for Elitism... :o  :o  :o

Provides a nice visual anchor (when available). I rather like it.

Change your name back to AWOL and be done with it.

If only it were that simple.
Or desirable.

Or TMFKAA
