Why have some sections named Moderators?

I notice that some sections of the Forum have a list of named Moderators.

I wonder when was the last time that Massimo Banzi actively moderated the General Discussion section?

The named moderators are mostly for specific language sections.

The Chinese language section is relatively new and I note that Massimo is one of the moderators of that section.

Maybe he has been too busy there to have time to attend to the General Discussion section ?

I suspect that, technically, forum sections can have moderators (not global moderators). Plus there are global moderators (like me) who can moderate any section.

So a "named moderator" can only moderate that particular part of the forum.
