Update to 1.8.12, it is definitely there. Your sketch should have #include <SoftwareSerial.h> to bring it in. Then SoftwareSerial mySerialA(4, 5); // RX, TX to invoke it on selected pins (328P, 1284P, 2560 chips anyway)
