Post a picture of your hardware setup.
may be you clear and rewrite the display more often than needed?
just update the LCD if you really have new information to print.
No one can tell, because you didn't provide your code, nor you didn't show any pictures so we can't see what you see.
Posting an annotated schematic would help, it could be dimming because of power problems.
Less a schematic or knowing how anything is powered and sans code all I have is this. My LCDs tend to dim when the power pins are sloppy, lose fit on the proto boards. That's all I got.
