Why not perfboard compatible?

I was just thinking "hey lets make some shields for my Decimilia on perfboard", so I could swap my experiments and dont have to redo everything over and over again on a breadboard.

I ordered some perfboards and.... Due to the gap between the pin 7 and 8 and 0 and Vin a normal perfboard does not fit!

WHY did the designers do that? To sell more professional shields?

:frowning: I am really unhappy.

Carsten

Just make a perfboard interface that sits between the arduino and your shield.

I can't make such a thing...

Why can't life be easy?

Carsten

PS: A local dealer has perfboard-shields, http://www.segor.de/bilder/0000e548.jpg however I think they are too expensive (6Euros) and they are wasting space

You can make your own sheld using perf board, I do this all the time. Look at:-

We got the definitive answer as to why the spacing was out by half a hole a few months back from the designer - cockup.

It has been kept that way to keep compatibility with all the shields that have been produced.

Nice one grumpy. Good set of instructions there.
