That would be true of a commercial product, where the unit goes in a housing at the factory. The expectations of a device used for prototyping and experimentation are different - you could expect a lot of handling prior to going in an enclosure. Sure, you're supposed to be careful. But Arduino is a learning platform, lots of users aren't accustomed to handling electronics with delicacy.
Also their radio characteristics will change if they are damaged...
