Hi!
Every now and then my Yun falls back in its AP mode even when it was configured and operated on my local WiFi net before.
This is an annoying issue and it is since I own my Yun. It was during Linino and still is with OpenWrt-Yun 1.4.1 OS version.
The only special thing about my WiFi config is that it goes into power safe mode during night time and disables wifi.
Any help or suggestions is highly welcome.
Does the Yun do that after booting, or does it also do that after the Yun has booted?
For the first: the file rc.local contains a line wifi-live-or-reset. This one will make the Yun go to AP mode if wifi is not working. You can remove this line from the file if you don't want that. As far as I know boot is the only time the Yun does this, but maybe I am wrong?
Yes, it is only after reboot so I co modify rc.local. And what happens after WiFi is reachable again? Will Yun do an automatic reconnect?
And too me it is still not clear, why the reconnect does not work.
Btw: once Yun is in AP mode it will never reconnect to my local net even after restart. I have to do a re-config.
Once it switched to AP, it will not automatically recover to non-AP mode. But if you have removed the line from rc.local you should not worry getting into AP mode.
If you made that change, then in theory when the wifi drops and comes back it should automatically reconnect. But it seems the Yun is pretty sensitive to the wifi signal strength. Some people have reported that it does not automatically reconnect (maybe with the current version that is solved, I don't know).
If you do see that the wifi does not restore, you might want to look into this thread:
http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=261103.msg1843315#msg1843315
it contains a link to a script monitoring your wifi and forcing the wifi to restart if it drops.
Thanks a lot!
I will give the info from the link a try.
Currently it runs perfectly using wifiMonitor. I will report in a few days if it really works.
