Wifi not working on 5V

Hello,
I have a nodemc-32s (esp32) device running connected through MQTT to home assistant. Currently, I am having the issue where the device is running correctly while using power through USB from a laptop. However. when running on 5v power it is not connecting to the network. Any suggestions why this might be happening?

Also, is it safe to connect to USB while also the 5v power in order to monitor the esp32?

Check the quality of your 5V supply.
Make sure it is not inducing or picking up spurious electrical noise.

What kind of 5V power supply are you using?
link, or photograph, etc ....
