Wifi on YUN not working: Resets don't help

Hi there, I was able to connect via wifi and configure via arduino.local and ip in browser. I tested out the reset buttons and now no matter how much I reset, it won't connect to wifi. I've tried:

arduino reset button instructions here: http://arduino.cc/en/Guide/ArduinoYun#toc6

These ones:
Upload the YunSerialTerminal example via usb
Reset the AR9331 (white button near the leds)
Wait until you read "Press the [f] key and hit [enter] to enter failsafe mode": do that, press f and hit enter
Type cd /usr/bin
Type ./reset-to-factory-anyway (this will reset the Yún to factory settings)

And these ones in this forum post: Unable to get http://Arduino.local page. Arduino Yun WiFi is connected Windows-7 - Arduino Yún - Arduino Forum

I can run sketches via USB, I just can't connect it to Wifi. Anyone have any tips to try, or things to look for?

Thanks

Can you connect to its wifi (Arduino Yun-ABCD...) ?

If so, is the problem related to the Yun not connecting to your home wifi? In this case, it should reboot and turn into access point mode after 60 seconds: is this happening?

Thanks for your reply! The problem is, It won't show up as an option when I scan for wifi connections.

It's not rebooting after 60 secs and turning into AP.

Second to last check: try uploading the wifistatus example (use the USB cable) then open serial monitor and see what gets printed. It should tell you the status of the wifi connection on your yun

Here is what I got from that:

Current WiFi configuration
SSID: Arduino Yun-90A2DAF80A4A
Mode: Master
Signal: 0%
Encryption method: None
Interface name: wlan0
Active for: 1 minutes
IP address: 192.168.240.1/255.255.255.0
MAC address: 90:A2:DA:F8:0A:4A
RX/TX: 0/3 KBs

Not sure if it would help to post the log from the YunSerialTerminal sketch?

Your yun is acting as access point (mode Master). You should see a wifi network named "Arduino Yun-90A2DAF80A4A" available. Connect to it and configure the yun to connect to your home wifi

Thanks! For some reason my mac was not showing it in the menu bar wifi dropdown. It did however show it deeper into the system preferences settings for some reason.

Anyways, thanks for solving that for me!

Just as a wild guess, I think the 0% signal strength shown in the status output might have something to do with that...

Ralf

Yeah, why do you suppose it was outputting 0% signal?

Sorry, but my crystal ball is still on recall...

More seriously, without seeing your actually setup live, there are just too many possibilities...

Ralf

I've never noticed that. I think signal is always zero when you're in access point mode.
