Hello,
I recently ordered wifi shield with UNO R3. When I use the webserver example sketch it was working and stated message "Please upgrade the firmware". So I followed the steps as instructed http://arduino.cc/en/Hacking/WiFiShieldFirmwareUpgrading here.
Everything went well and succeeded updating the firmware. I tried connecting now it shows the message "WiFi shield not present".
I tried looping pin 7 and 3 as instructed in http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoWiFiShield but no progress.
Link Green LED on wifi shield comes ON for a moment and goes off at startup.
After that DATA Blue LED comes on and stays on.
Could anyone please help to resolve this issue?
Thanks
Ramesh
Did you remove the jumper block from the DFU programming pins next to the SD slot after finishing the upgrade?
You mean J3 on wifi shield right. Yes of course I removed it.
What do you mean by this?
I tried looping pin 7 and 3 as instructed in http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoWiFiShield but no progress.
Where does it say to do that?
Sorry for the false statement I meshed up with the statement
"I tried looping pin 7 and 3 as instructed in http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoWiFiShield but no progress."
I remember somewhere I read this instruction in our forum. But not getting now. It is not stated in the link.http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoWiFiShield. So I call back this statement.
Regards
Ramesh
Are you certain the upgrade was successful? If you used the Atmel Flip programmer with Windows, here is a thread that has the upgrade files attached (reply #12) and shows how the upgrade should look on a command prompt (reply #18).

Thank you for the support. Issue resolved.
rameshkumar,
I am new to the arduino experience. This is actually my first post, I am experiencing the same problem that you encountered, with the same symptoms after attempting to update the firmware to both of the same models arduino, and shield as you have. (blue Datalight comes on after update, but the Serial Monitor indicated the Wi-Fi Shield is not connected), It is unclear to me how you ended up resolving the issue.
Could you tell me what ended up working for you?
After two days of trying to figure out what was wrong, I re did the Wi-Fi shield firmware upgrade process. Though I thought I did it correctly the first time, apparently I did not. After I went through the process step by step the second time, the Wi-Fi shield works properly now.
