WiFi woes

My kids wanted me to bring out the Christmahanukwanzaa_Tree project I did last year. After realizing I upgraded our APs in our house I had to reset the SSID in the YUN. However it only connects to my old AP in my office. I read somewhere it doesn't like newer frequencies? Could be wrong. But if I set it to use the SSID in my office (old old AP), it boots up and works. If I set it to use the SSID near the tree (new AC3800 Netgear R8000), it goes into a weird mode where I can see it as a Wifi Router (Not acting like AP client) but the IP it gives my computer is 192.168.64.210 and not in the 192.168.240.x range, and I can't connect to it, or ping it using an IP scanner. I guess the new routers are just overpowering the signal? Any advice how to get these to play nice together?

Thank you and Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Jose

Connect Ethernet cable between Yun and Netgear R8000.

STA for managed (client) mode

Thank you for getting back to me so fast. :slight_smile:

I'm sorry for being so dumb, but am I'm basically hard coding the WiFi settings directly by doing this?

Best,

Jose

No, you would be bypassing the WiFi altogether, and talking directly over the wired Ethernet. Running a wire is not as convenient as using wireless, but it's often faster and more reliable than wireless and usually doesn't need any change to configuration settings.

@JoseJones,
Get your Yun. Connect it to your favorite laptop or computer. Do a WIFI RESET (30+ second reset)

Your Yun will go back to being an AP. At that point watch this video.

This video will help you setup your Yun to your new (home) IP.
