This is in no way an answer to my previous question, but more like another question.
I stumbled across this dfrobot IO Expansion Shield For Arduino(V5) IO Expansion Shield for Arduino v5 (Discontinued) - DFRobot. It is only 18 bucks and looks to be a pretty nice deal. It has the xbee form factor which has all the pinouts to match the wiFly module. Would this be a worthwhile solution? Anyone have any experience with this shield or could speculate on how it might work out?
