just in case the idea get's lost... (massimo, please only read this if you're feeling bored
please set up a public wiki were we can document our code snipplets and other things.
What's with the wiki on the berlios project page? crap? maybe enough for a start?
I will definitivley document things I figured out, promised!
But I and shurely man others need a place for that. I dislike the current situation, where people like tom igoe collect code on their page.
Shure, the forum grows and grows with nice information, too. But it's no real alternative for an information collection.
fully agreed with oliver!
i know that there a lot of things to do, and each of them is important...
but for growing up the project there should be a base (wiki) where more people then now can help build up. with the advantage that not the core team must do all this work.
for the moment i will only teach a class in some weeks with arduino. i have a lot of experience in microcontrolling and electronics. but i see that isn't easy to find all the important informations, and when i think a student or interested person without such a background would like to start arduino... oh no, killing reason!
don't forgot : this reply is thinked as a positive input! no pressure to anyone.
go with the flow
I totally Agree,
we need a wiki for code, for circuitry, for tutorials, and for single component collection...
sparkfun has an opencircuit wiki http://www.opencircuits.com
that we could eventually use, but I feel more confortable if we could give it a more "designer oriented" type of information...and host it at "out place"
I'm fairly new to electronics and what I would find very usefull is a collection of already explained components (cut down to a designer's mind) with explained what it is used for, how to use it with a sample code and circuit, where can it be found etc..
today this kind of information needs to be tracked down in numerous forum posts...very usefull for a work in progress but quite difficult to find a second time.
instead of asking all the time what multiplexer is better for this and that..what motor driver...what led driver ecc...we could search the common database contributed by users...
I know that you are all buisy and that you already thought of all this.
I also know the spamming problems..
but I agree that there should be a common place for users...
I'm switching host right now...as soon as I'm perfectly confy with it I'd like to set up such a wiki for the Arduino comunity with the possibility to switch it to the Arduino domain as soon as it is possible.
cheers
b.
btw we never had any problems letting people add content to the main wiki.
anybody who wants to do that (and has a clue on what to write ) is welcome.
in our "editorial" plan there is the introduction of a wiki called "playground" where people can create their homegrown documentation
articles that are particularly good will be moved to the main site.
what's holding me back at the moment is that I want to integrate the wiki with the forum so that people who are already registered with the forum don't have to re-register for the wiki
if there is a php wizard who wants to do the it would be good.
BTW in the meantime the playground is open... Arduino Playground - HomePage no somebody has to design a template for it...
beltran is the admin (and username).la password e' il nome della strada dove vivi (solo i cognome)
in italian we say "hai voluto la bici? adesso pedala"
