So I've been thinking about this a lot and I really dont want to burn any of the two out but I have close to no knowledge in regards to this stuff. Was just wondering if this would work for extended amounts of time or if not what i could do to make it work.
I only added the wiring and stuff about the power so there wasnt any wires all over the place
It doesn’t look like anything is controlling the solenoid , it looks like some black wires connect to red and I can’t see what pins the connections on the Arduino are . I know you missed these bits out but they are important to judge the wiring
hammy:
Need a better diagram than that - draw by hand .

Sorry about that. I updated the post with a picture thats cleaner to look at and have all the wires connected. Also a closeup picture of the arduino used.
My drawing skills are really bad so drawing by hand would make it 10x worse sorry.
Sorry that picture is a blur and unreadable . Get a pencil
Is that a transistor or FET -? It looks wired wrong anyhow , google how to use as a switch .
You can try the rfid board without the solenoid to get you started , use the onboard led instead.
Use the examples supplied with the rfid board to start with
