Will this ethernet shield provide the ability to make http calls to a webserver?

Hello. I'm a bit of a newbie to these shields, and i cant quite figure out whether or not this shield will give me the ability to make http calls. http://www.let-elektronik.dk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=160&category_id=27&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=85

Also, is it compatible with the arduino uno?

Thanks in advance!

Looks like ‘your’ shield is ‘the’ shield… ie official Arduino shield.
Library is here, server and client modes.

Hej Kentora! (you are Danish, right?) :)

I bought the cheaper Wiznet ethernet shield from the same shop.

It works great, and is compatible with the official arduino ethernet library, straight out of the box.

Of course it doesn't have the microSD slot, so if you need that, you should get the shield you suggested yourself. ;)

To answer the initial questions:

Yes you can make the arduino act as a client contacting servers or acting as a server and responding to clients. (there are examples of both of these configurations in the ethernet library and tonnes of stuff online). Yes that shield is compatable withe the uno.
